Family reunion in Rye - View from the roof of Saltcote Place

Walking into Town is easy on Date Night

A mere 700 yards away lies Rye’s charming high street. Many guests prefer strolling, leaving cars behind.

Our home offers secure off-road parking. Upon arrival to your left as you enter the large gates is our car park, while on the right, you will see the pedestrian gates. These gates are your convenient shortcut to Rye.

The Rye image above was captured from our roof. In the lower part of the image, you will see the Landgate Bistro and the Globe Inn Marsh, even closer.

We’ve compiled a list of excellent local restaurants for you. When booking, mentioning Saltcote Place might make a difference.

Things to see and do in the Rye Bay area

If your idea of a Date Night is to stay in bed for a couple of days that’s cool. If you want to explore the Rye Bay area we can help you.

One very popular day out is to tour the local vineyards, we list the best way to organise the day here https://saltcote.co.uk/things-to-do-in-rye/

We also produce the town website which lists many other places to see https://VisitRyeBay.com

Within a short drive you will find https://www.greatdixter.co.uk/ and the Kent and East Sussex Light Railway https://www.kesr.org.uk/ the steam railway serves both Tenterden to the north and Bodiam castle to the south.

Fancy a vineyard visit – do check with the venue before arriving.

https://www.chapeldown.com/ is next to the Small Hythe National trust home of Ellen Terry https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/smallhythe-place/

About 20 minutes from Saltcote you could also visit https://www.englishorganicwine.co.uk/ they do some amazing “Regent” red wines with a surprising texture wine drinkers are always amazed by.

Camber Sands can be seen from the gardens and would take around 40 minutes to walk to or 10 minutes to drive to.

Rye Harbour Nature Reserve it a flat enjoyable walk with plenty of covered bird watching positions. Mobility vehicles can get around the walk and into the discovery centre which has a café.

Layla Turkish Restaurant in Rye High street

The Layla Turkish restaurant in the high street is really good authentic Turkish food and relaxed fun, probably one of the best places to eat in Rye. Remember this is not London so your meal may take longer than 2 minutes to arrive as may your first drink but the atmosphere is as relaxed as eating at your friend’s house. You are there to stay, leave when you are ready.

The food is excellent and has become a popular haunt of the local Hoteliers and restaurant owners who go for the relaxed atmosphere and great food.

Everyone enjoys Layla Restaurant, you can see their here https://www.laylarestaurantrye.co.uk/menu
